Make PetReminder truly yours by customizing your pets and reminder experience. This guide covers everything you can personalize.
Pet Appearance
Changing Pets
- Open PetReminder → Settings (or press
Cmd+,) - Click the Pet tab
- Select from your available pets
- The selected pet will appear for future reminders
Pet-Specific Options
Some premium pets have unique customization options:
- Color variants: Some pets offer different coat colors or patterns
- Animation speed: Adjust how fast your pet moves
- Size: Make your pet larger or smaller on screen
Behavior Settings
Customize how your pet behaves when it appears:
- Idle behavior: Choose what your pet does when waiting (sit, walk, play)
- Interaction response: How your pet reacts to mouse clicks and movement
- Auto-dismiss: Set a timer for the pet to disappear automatically
- Multiple pets: Select different pets for different types of reminders
Sound Settings
Control pet sound effects independently from your system volume:
- Enable/disable: Turn pet sounds on or off
- Volume slider: Adjust pet sound volume
- Sound themes: Choose from different sound theme packs
- Mute on focus: Automatically lower pet sounds when you're in a meeting
Notification Style
Customize how reminders appear:

| Banner | Brief notification that auto-dismisses |
| Alert | Stays on screen until you dismiss it |
| Silent | Pet appears without notification sound |
- Full-screen mode: Choose whether pets appear when you're in full-screen apps
- Do Not Disturb: Respect macOS Focus modes
General Settings
Access these in Settings → General:
- Language: Switch between English and Chinese (Simplified)
- Launch at Login: PetReminder starts automatically when you log in
- Theme: Light or dark mode (follows system by default)
- Menu bar icon: Show or hide the menu bar icon
Tips
- Assign different pets to different types of reminders for variety
- Reduce animation speed if the pet is too distracting
- Try pairing a calm pet (Ragdoll) for work reminders and an energetic one (Shiba) for breaks
- Enable "Launch at Login" so you never miss important reminders
